Artist Bio
Andrew Stevovich’s paintings and etchings feature people. Alone, the characters are caught in private acts such as drying off after a bath. In groups, the cast is dancing or waiting in the ice cream line at the town fair. In both scenarios, the subjects are unaware of the viewer, caught in their own dream-like gaze. Stevovich’s concentration on composition and his expert use of color add an air of mystery to his compelling imagery. The highly stylized rendering of his characters lends to a sense of obscurity, allowing all viewers to relate to the illustrated narratives.
Andrew Stevovich earned his MFA in Painting from Massachusetts College of Art, Boston and his BFA in Painting from Rhode Island School of Design. His work has been exhibited internationally and is included in numerous public and private collections.
Two catalogues of Stevovich’s work are available.
