From 1861-1865, Matthew B. Brady led a group of photographers to document the Civil War. Taking thousands of photographs, Brady and his team mobilized to capture scenes of a battle-scarred landscape; and of the soldiers within it. Before beginning this extensive project, Brady learned photography under the tutelage of William Page and learned the art of the daguerreotype from Samuel F. B. Morse.
What came out of this project was a vast collection of photographs, much of which can be found in the archives of The Library of Congress today. In addition to Brady’s war photography, he also took a number of portraits of high profile political figures including Abraham Lincoln and Millard Fillmore.
Condition: Hardcover. Very good condition. Dustjacket has a stain on the front bottom left corner, and page edges are dirtied with use. Pages are otherwise in clean condition.
